Website Gets a Re-do to Celebrate! 5/1/2013 2:15:46 AM
To celebrate the upcoming release of my fourth novel "Wiggle Room" in
print and eBook, I have
updated my website. I am blogging about the changes and why I made them.

WIGGLE ROOM, coming June 1 in eBook and print from Sartoris Literary To celebrate the June 2013 release of my fourth novel WIGGLE ROOM from publisher Sartoris Literary Group, my website received a long-awaited update. With the help of Denton Gibbes and Craig West, Creative Director at the Gibbes Company, the site has been expanded to include the new novel.
We kept the general format of the site which has worked well since my first thriller HOUSE CALL was released in 2005. Clicking the image of each novel on the Home page provides a link to that book’s dedicated page. A synopsis appears with each novel as well as related information or promotional pieces. WIGGLE ROOM, also available in print and eBook, is unique in that its page features much-appreciated blurbs from advance-reader authors.
I used this revision to incorporate improvements suggested by a website reviewer and to add features that I liked from other websites. These changes included using a lighter background shade, shorter copy for the book synopsis, publishing advance-reader blurbs (as mentioned above), and a complete revamp of the Buy-it page with direct links to online and bricks-and-mortar booksellers. My contact information has been expanded inserting links to my Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Pinterest, and YouTube accounts. Of course, there is the opportunity to join the email mailing list.
Unless the owner of a website is a graphic artist or a website-design guru (or knows one that works for free) building a personalized website and keeping it updated can be expensive. Since I don’t know anyone who will work for free and am not a guru, I will continue to post upcoming book signings and events, blog entries, and other Darden North writing news using a Blogger.com feature linked to my GoDaddy domain. This service allows me make those simple entries myself.
I hope anyone who visits my freshened-up website will find it pleasing to the eye (ignore the author’s photo) and easy to navigate.
