Compressed dinosaurs and vegetation? I think not. The Soviet Union in 1951 suspected the origin of oil and a PHD in Texas later confirmed it with actual evidence. He initially took the Soviet's suspicion and used a reactor to emulate the conditions required to "create oil." The theory was the Tectonic Plates, colliding with one another, drive deep toward the Earth's core. There, pressure and heat are immense.
That Texas PHD had much to "guess" about. What compounds or elements combined at pressure and depth to form crude, if any. His work was not a snap and consumed many years of research. Then he worked his way to the two most common compounds in the Earth's crust, Calcium Carbonate and Ferric Oxide.
Gradually incresing temperature and pressure, he found at roughly 1500 degrees F and 50,000 atmospheres he could watch the two compounds combine and create crude oil. The depth of conversion was found to be about 100 kilometers from the surface of the Earth.
Deep Earth fissures and faults are a known fact. How then did this oil reach near surface deposits? There are two driving forces. The rotation of the Earth, cetrifugal force and the super heated water that exists at depth. The oil is forced to migrate to these near surface underground lakes and the shale and sand deposits that trap the oil.
The myth presented that oil is a non-renewable fossile fuel has been fed to people since the early 1600's when the scientific community put forth the theory of squashed plants and dinosaurs create oil. Where is the proof? A theory remember is merely an opinion and without scientific proof it remains just a controversial opinion. Proof does, however, exist showing Calcium Carbonate and Ferric Oxide combine to produce a tangeable example of Earth's crude oil.
The Good Lord never intended us to run on empty and his plan continues to produce. One, two perhaps three inches a year push the Tectonic Plates with their mother load of the two compounds deeper and deeper until oil emerges and struggles to migrate to the surface.
Non-renewable? A ploy to push the price per barrel well past $100 for every 42 gallons produced. Think about it and inquire.
