Well, I just recently decided to start a blog because of reasons I choose not to reveal. I want to start my first blog ever about me and my life experiences, because maybe this will help to explain the reasons I view the world the way I do and the reasons I became so heavily involved in writing.
I started writing in elementary school. My teachers would give me writing assignments that I would devour! I’ve always loved to write. Soon after I discovered my love of the craft, I began writing outside of school assignments. I would staple pieces of loose leaf paper together and write a story on the bottom half and draw pictures on the top half to go along with the words I’d written. I’d written a 50-page book by the time I was 10, which was a pretty big accomplishment to me. My sister would do the same. On the cover, on which I’d do the artwork, I would draw a yellow star and write the word “new” on it, imitating comic book and children’s chapter books I’d read. By the way, Karen books were my favorite…you know, Baby Sitter’s Little Sister. I would read Goosebumps books also and my creative niche began from there.
By the time I reached 8th grade, at the age of thirteen, I decided that I wanted to write a full length book. So, I began my first novel, which I called A Spirited Player about a young girl who wanted to pursue a career as a basketball player. I filled up 13 composition notebooks of the story and loved every minute of completing these books. At the end of the very long book, I grew to love writing even more and began another series of books, which was a spinoff of my original book, about the main character’s daughter. To date, I’ve filled up over 50 composition notebooks of stories and haven’t stopped writing since.
One of the main reasons I began writing is because, like many people, I haven’t had the perfect life and sometimes I just wanted to escape this world and enter another world, be someone else for awhile. So, I began reading and writing. To me, it takes you on a journey, brings you to many different places without the expenses. You can travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world without even leaving your bedroom and I find that fascinating. Reading and writing have gotten me through some of the toughest years of my life, the teen years and we all know how they can be. I won’t even get into it today, but this is my first blog! I’m done writing for now. I will probably write again tomorrow, so hopefully someone reads it!!! Until tomorrow!! Muah!! xoxoxo
