Thriller Writers I Read 8/26/2009 9:10:20 PM
Kyle's Mills' thrillers keep abreast of world events. When I first met Kyle Mills in Jackson WY, he was helping me with my thriller, Falklands Deadline when I attended the Jackson Hole Writers conference. We have been friends ever since. He grew up in Oregon, and his father was an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Kyle lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with his wife and they are both avid rock climbers. Years earlier, while he was working at a bank in Jackson, his wife suggested he write a novel. Tim Sandlin, who looks after the Jackson Hole Writers conference, encouraged Kyle to finish writing the story. Eight months later, he finished Rising Phoenix and about a year after that Harper Collins picked it up and published it. Through his father, who knew Tom Clancy, Kyle was able to get jacket blurbs from the famous author. Not that he needed them as his books stand alone and all are a good read.
Several of his books (Rising Phoenix, Storming Heaven, Sphere of Influence, Free Fall and Darkness Falls) include a character Mark Beamon, an FBI special agent.
