They Cry Out For Justice 1/18/2005 10:26:27 AM
This weblog will share about three murders that happened twenty (25) five years ago in Maryland and Virginia. January 17, 1970, it was a very cold wintery day in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland.
Sherry Bristol Kennedy had decided to go and visit her best friend, Lisa Levine, who was baby-sitting for a family in the Montgomery Apartment Complex.
Sherry arrived about 8 PM and in between Lisa and Sherry got into an arguement about Sherry using the phone when the couple Lisa was baby-sitting for told her not to tie up the phone because periodically they would call in to see the how their children were doing.
Lisa told Sherry not to use the phone and Sherry got pissed off at Lisa and an arguement broke up and Sherry grabbed her coat, groves purse and hat and stormed out the apartment which Lisa was baby-sitting in.
Lisa tried to reason with Sherry but Sherry would not listen. Lisa watched as Sherry came out of the apartment door and walked down the street as the apartment she was baby-sitting in was facing the street. Lisa watched Sherry and afterwhile she lost sight of her as Sherry walked farther and father down the street.
It is not known who Sherry talked to that dreadful night but it is spectulated that one of the people she talked to before Lisa and she got into it was my boyfriend, Doug Daily, who lived about eight miles from where Lisa was baby-sitting.
Lisa told me that Sherry and she met Doug at an Ice Skating rink and Sherry thought of Doug as a boyfriend.
Lisa shared with me that Doug told Sherry he had a girl friend and she lived in Virginia.
The apartment complex that Lisa baby-sat in that dreadful night was in the far north part of Bethesda, and Doug lives in the far south side of Bethesda.
The Apartment Building Complex Sherry left from faced Democracy Blvd and The Two streets that Doug lived close to where Old Georgetown and Lone Oak Drive . He lived on Bellhaven Road.
Sherry left the apartment complex around 10:30 PM EST and called Doug and told him she was on her way and she would be there by 11:30 PM.
Sherry and Lisa lived in the Cabin John Subdivision of in Potomac, Montgomery County, Maryland, whereas Doug lived in Bethesda.
Doug told Sherry he would wait up for her up until 11:30 PM EST and on that very same night my friend, Debbie Poole who had introduced me to Doug. Both of us were trying to call him and both of us were getting busy signals on his phone.
We finally got a hold of him about 10:45 PM and he said he had been on the phone with a friend. Little did we know that it was Sherry Kennedy he was talking too.
Well when Sherry did not arrive by 11:30 PM . Doug did not think anything about it. He just took it she went home.
It is not known if Sherry started to hitch-hike or if she took a ride from someone and thought she could trust him.
Because somewhere between 10:30 PM or later, that very same person ended her life by put an ice pick through her head and slitting her throat.
That same person just threw into a ravine not far from where she lived in the Cabin John Subdivision of Potomac, Maryland.
The Kennedy's went to wake up Sherry the next morning.
When they saw that her bed had not been slept in the night before they thought nothing of it because Lisa often asked Sherry to spend the night at her home.
The Kennedy's called Lisa's home and Lisa told them the last time she saw Sherry was the night before and she had left the apartment complex at 10:30 PM and she was headed over to Doug's house in Bethesda.
The Kennedy's called Doug and Doug told them she never made it over and he just thought she changed her mind and went directly home.
The Kennedy's called the Montgomery County Police and they started to look for her. Later that day the police found her murdered body through in a ravine by the Old Cabin John Bridge and she had been murdered with an ice pick put through her head and her throat slit.
The Kennedy's put out a $5,000 reward for any one who had any information and could bring the person responsible for the murder of their daughter, 14 year old Sherry Kennedy.
No one collected the reward money. The Police had no leads and Sherry's case went cold.
A few weeks later in the same apartment, a 33 year old married teacher, Katherine Kalamber, was murdered by the same MO. That dreadfully evening , her husband and two children had gone to see a movie. She decided to stay home and grade some papers.
When the husband and his children came back. They found the wife and mother murdered with a slit throat and the telephone line has been cut. The balcony door had been jimmed and broken into.
The Montgomery County Police had no leads or clues who murdered this woman. The case went cold.
A month later in a Alexandria Apartment Complex, a stwerdness, was found murdered in the same way that Katherine and Sherry were murdered by a slit throat.
The two police departments put their heads together but none could come up with any leads or clues.
Today, still there is no leads or clues. The Maryland State Police and Virginia State Police need to start to use Forensic science and maybe they will come across some new evidence i.e. DNA or whatever that will leada them to the person or persons who murdered these three innocent women's lives.
Sherry and the other two women cry out for justice. They cry out from the grave to bring the person or persons to justice who ended their lives so needlessly and had no regards for human life whatsoever.
I was just fourteen myself when Sherry and the other two ladies were murdered.
I was in John Adam' s Middle School and I found out via The Washington Post and Star that Doug had known Sherry Kennedy but not very well.
The tragic thing is that the person who did this is still at large and is laughing because they got way with it.
They can run but they can not hide from the Lord and These three innocent victims will get the justice on judgement day.
