Professional pay, maybe? 4/17/2009 5:05:11 AM
I received news this morning that my story "Licked" is in the final round of consideration at a professional-rate-paying publisher. I'm hopeful, but very aware that the odds are still stacked against me. I've been here before. My story "Pulse" (aka Distance Squared) has been to the final round for pro rates (one time double pro rates) a couple of times and still has not found a home. My story "Coryanna" also got to the final rounds twice, only to be rejected. I finally used Coryanna as a flagship story (for substantially less than pro rates) to a place that took both short stories and novels. It worked; I got the story and the novel published. I have gotten pro rates one time, so far, for "Agent Blue," which will be in Sonar 4's first anthology in June.
The Cynic Online just published my story "Deadly Extension." There's a link at my website. This Monday, April 20, my story "Wish Limits" will be up at Every Day Fiction. It might end up being the most read story I've written so far, and will definitely be the most critiqued. Hop over and get your two cents in.
Lately, I've been outlining the third book in the Mantis series. I hope to start writing it soon. Lot going on. Later, Joshua Scribner
