The Resilient Spirit of a Woman 8/4/2009 7:37:31 PM
It is always amazing to me how resilient and strong women are. We have the ability to bounce back from tragedy and loss in ways that are utterly amazing. I feel powerful just being associated with "women" as a group.
I used to watch my mom run around all do, getting us off to school, working 8 - 10, then coming home and cooking dinner, never really taking time for herself, and each day she would do it again with a great deal of love in her heart for me and my siblings.
I've watched friends endure hardship, failed marriages, difficult children (teens), job loss, etc. They cry, scream, even, get angry, but then they move on. They bounce back like a brand new rubber band.
Recently, I learned my friend and colleague lost her baby at 39 weeks in the womb. She was sad, I creid with her, and I'm sure there will be many more tears and horrible weeks. But her spirit amazed me. She was inspiring even in her time of loss. That is woman for you. We are fabulous!
