Greetings to everyone from Baja California, Mexico,

I must admit that I am a true "greenhorn" when it comes to blogs. If I recall correctly I have attempted to write blogs on three different sites; however, after completing one or two I have become discouraged after discovering that few people have read them.

So, I have decided to combine all of my efforts and let out all I have to say here on Author's Den.

As I look forward to the release of my third book, The Autism Handbook, October 15, 2009, I realize how overwhelming the world of publication can be for an author. My first two books took on a life of their own. I was pleased, and satisfied, to see my name on a book, buy a few (I even sold a few), and put them aside so I can validate to myself that I have actually published two literary works. However, my latest book fits into a different corner of my mind. I am so excited that I kind of wish I could jump on the calendar and wipe out all of the days there until the publication date. Then I realize all I must do before the 15th - then I realize I'd need to jump back on the calendar and attempt to turn back the hand of time.

Autism is a big subject these days. Although I realize I am opposing some peoples' feelings of a "cure" for the disability, I plan to speak out and try to help people to realize that we do not, to date, have a known cure. It is my belief that we are offering parents, and others associated with autism, a feeling of false hope. These people have enough on their plate without being given this type of information. Instead, I encourage these people to offer the ideas that we can help those people with this disability - helping is much different than a cure, but it is also more realistic.
