The rain hitting the hood of her coat, Kate hurried through the gate into the park. Getting the feeling that someone was watching her again, Kate halted near where the path reached a clump of trees. Beginning to continue along the darkened ...path, she thought she saw someone moving past the trees ahead of her.
Deciding to turn back and call the police from the payphone between the park and her house, she began walking backwards, trying to keep an eye for whoever it was she was facing. Reaching the gate, she halted again, hearing someone moving through the thick bushes ahead of her.
It stepped out into the light where she could see it, looking like something from a George Romero movie.
