I've checked the mail every day, but still nothing. I see a UPS truck on the street and think, "Ah, maybe that's my invitation!" Nope.

Would it come by email? Nothing so far, though I check constantly.

I mean, I should get an invitation. I set my alarm and got up to watch Diana and Charles get married at 2 a.m. my time. I followed the ups and downs of their sad marriage. I cheered on Diana as she made a new life for herself. I mourned with the rest of the world at her passing.

I "saw" Will grow up. I've waited and waited for the happy announcement of his engagement to Kate. Theirs seems to be a true love match, one that has stood the test of time.

Ah, well, if I don't get the invitation, I'll follow the coverage on TV. These days the thought of getting up at 2 am for anything does not excite me, not even the wedding of the century--or the decade, anyway.
