He's on his hind legs, paws curled almost as if in prayer, the ultimate begging pose. I'm sure he heard me in the house, but it looks as if he'd just been waitng there all night! I can't resist such cuteness, so I toss him a few walnut pieces.

I head to the kitchen and hear a racket outside. When I look out the window, I see four blue jays staring at me. This is slightly un-nerving, as it is somewhat reminscent of The Birds. But I know all they want is their fair share of walnut pieces. Well, actually, they want more than their fair share, but that's all they're getting.

Next I see the crows down on back fence. Already they have pretty much pecked away all of the corn-on-cob that I had put down there last evening. Of course, some raccoons or opossums might have done some nibbling during the night.

I go to get the newspaper and I see a deer walking down the road. Apparently, the deer repelent is working (for once), because my container of impatients is still intact.

Colette (our cat) meows her demands to be fed, so she's next to be served. Then, finally, I can start preparing breakfast for we mere humans!
