Obama is screwing up but Republicans are worse. 12/15/2011 8:45:51 AM
What a difficult week for Obama. First, he allowed a bipartisan bill by Levin and McCain to be passed which would allow the military to cart you off if they think you are a terrorist. While I am sure the law defines a narrow behavioral pattern this could easily be a law that is abused by other presidents going forward.
Yet, we still have hope that housing bubbles can be avoided, through the Dodd-Frank Volcker Rule. If it is watered down too much, the Republicans and some Democrats have the desire to blow another housing bubble, further depriving main street of wealth.
It is time to pay cash and forgo credit, as a way to hurt the financial system. Now, we know that business needs credit, but consumers do not. Consumers can find another way. The financial deregulation which came in 1986 through the City of London caused the abuses and rampant speculation that we see today on Wall Street.
We must be careful in the use of credit and we must teach our children.
