Smashwords was recently told by PayPal that authors with adult content would not be allowed to publish with them. Smashwords was recently told by PayPal that authors with adult content would not be allowed to publish with them.
This was due to the restrictions of credit card companies to not allow their cards to be used for purposes of obtaining certain materials they deemed immoral/illegal. The uproar from the literary community stating this was a form of censorship has helped Smashwords plead their case with PayPal. Today PayPal has reversed its decision.
