On to Prix St. Georges 11/27/2012 7:00:18 PM
Maxx is doing very, very well at his training with canter pirouettes and flying changes! He is a very lateral horse which means that his half passes are good. Ellen rode Maxx for the November show at Fourth Level (Second and Third tests). Pat, their trainer, suggested that Ellen ride Maxx at a higher level - Prix St. George in January. The test is more complicated, but we think he can do it. This is a long way from the snake bite which was severe enough the vet wanted to put him down in 2005. Due to that snake bite we still wrap his left hind leg every day between turnouts and training. The leg is great as long as he moves. If he doesn't move enough the leg swells which is what the wrap prevents.
If he and Ellen ride Prix St. George in January?! they would have competed Training Level, First Level, Second Level, Third Level, Fourth Level through Prix St. George. We are grateful Maxx has taken Ellen on this LONG journey. He is 22 and stronger than ever. I've learned that daily care consistency, an excellent diet, and careful training can make the difference in a good horse's life.
