This is a review of the Tenth Chapter of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. Yah and the Space Cadets / First Light / The Second Expedition
Comment: In this series of books, planet Zorec, where the Cadets are from, has ten days per week, three weeks per month, i.e., 30 days, and twelve months per year; in other words, the year is exactly 360 days long.
Summary of Chapter 10 – Tests and Planet Lurodas
The cadets need to visit planet Lurodas for two reasons: the first one is to collect materials for their project. Yah, Ada, and Sid’s project deals with the safety of fishing boats. The second reason is to visit the entrails of a volcano. However, once there, they attain yet another power, that of levitation. Iris, Ada and Zaza had already suspected that the group would obtain a new power inside that volcano.
Excerpt: “Excellent,” said Alph. “Your brains can still learn something. Now, for the real test; make sure you have your stalactite in one hand. Begin humming until you make it vibrate, at that moment extend your other hand, put it over a heavy object, such as a stone and tell it to move to any point you want.”
The cadets began to hum and, soon after, their stalactites began to vibrate; the cadets began to move heavy stones a quarter of a mile or more without any problems. They lifted them high in the air without any visible effort and sent them flying to form piles.
“The question is, ‘Why didn’t they teach us this yesterday when we had to move some heavy stones and tree trunks?’” mentioned Ada.
“They must enjoy seeing us suffer,” said Sid.
Gab and Alph seemed very satisfied with the results and told the group to return to base. Tomorrow, they would start their trip back to the Audacious.

Comentario: En esta serie de libros, el planeta Zorec, del que proceden los cadetes, tiene diez días por semana, tres semanas por mes, es decir, 30 días, y doce meses por año; en otras palabras, el año consta de exactamente 360 días.
Resumen del Capítulo 10 – Pruebas y el Planeta Lurodas
Los cadetes necesitan visitar el planeta Lurodas por dos razones: la primera es la de recolectar materiales para su proyecto. El proyecto de Yah, Ada y Sid tiene que ver con la seguridad de los barcos pesqueros. La segunda razón es la de visitar las entrañas de un volcán. Sin embargo, una vez allí, logran un poder más, el de la levitación. Iris, Ada y Zaza ya sospechaban que el grupo obtendría un nuevo poder en el interior del volcán.
Extracto: «Excelente», dijo Alf. «Su cerebro todavía puede aprender algo. Pero, ahora viene la verdadera prueba; cerciórense de tener en la mano su trozo de estalactita. Comiencen a hacer el zumbido hasta que la hagan vibrar, en ese momento extiendan la otra mano, póngala sobre un objeto pesado, por ejemplo una roca, y díganle que se mueva hacia algún sitio que ustedes quieran».
Los cadetes produjeron el zumbido; poco después, las estalactitas empezaron a vibrar; los cadetes movieron rocas pesadas a un tercio de kilómetro o más sin ningún problema. Las elevaron por el aire sin esfuerzo alguno y las enviaron volando para formar pilas.
«La pregunta es: ‘¿Por qué no nos enseñaron esto ayer cuando tuvimos que mover piedras y troncos de árbol pesados?’» mencionó Ada.
«Seguramente les encanta vernos sufrir», dijo Sid.
Gab y Alf parecían estar muy satisfechos con los resultados y le dijeron al grupo que regresara a la base. La mañana siguiente iniciarían su viaje de regreso a la Audaz.
