Will Minat, Tecar and Pran –three advanced robots, known as Carbios– help us fetch the project from the teleportation chamber? The cadets suffer again the annoying magnetic fields and the feeling of being in two places at once! This is a review of the Twelfth Chapter of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. Yah and the Space Cadets / First Light / The Second Expedition
Comment: In this chapter the word ‘Carbios’ is introduced; the term refers to robots that have more ‘carbon,’ i.e., more ‘muscle and flesh,’ than metals in their composition. The word ‘Plomday’ refers to a day of the week. Remember, however, that Zorec has 10-day weeks.
Summary of Chapter 12 – Memories, Circles and Dreams
There’s a problem with the Lion Team’s project. The fishing boat is too big and it has to be cut into three pieces and then glued back together before the contest takes place. Ada continues to struggle with the system when interacting with it. After entering the wormhole, they discover that they can travel in time; they can go to the future and then return to their present day. The cadets find this terribly puzzling.
Excerpt: After turning the system on, Ada decided to first say, “These are Cadets Yah, Sid and Ada. Today, we experienced a special change in our lives. We moved forward into the future by one day. We did this by a method discovered by Zam, another cadet in this expedition.”
“Hello Yah, Sid and Ada,” answered the system, which then said, “You lost a day.”
“That’s what I said, but there are other ways of looking at this, and there are some serious questions about this phenomenon. We want you to clarify some of them, if possible,” said Ada.
“Go ahead and ask,” said the system.
“Can you confirm that ‘we ate’ steaks and potatoes last night even though we were traveling to today and none of us remembers that meal?,” typed Ada.
“Yes, ‘you’ were at the mess hall eating that meal even though you were actually traveling through time,” answered the system.
“How can that be possible?” inquired Ada.
“You are in a wormhole. In this place it is easier to be in two places at once. This is also possible in other places and under some circumstances, but in the wormhole, it’s a lot easier,” affirmed the system.
“But, one can think that while traveling through time one can miss a wonderful experience in our moment in time. For example, what if that day, you experienced your first kiss?” asked Ada.
“I have never experienced a first kiss and have serious doubts about someone giving me one,” answered the system with a sarcastic tone. “However, the experiences you missed are saved for you and later sent to you in dreams. That’s why some dreams seem very real while others do not,” said the system.

Yah y los Cadetes del Espacio / Luz Primera / La Segunda Expedición
Comentario: En este capítulo aparece el término ‘Carbios’; esta voz se refiere a los robots que están compuestos de más ‘carbón’, es decir, ‘músculos y carne’, que de metales. La palabra ‘plómides’ se refiere a un día de la semana. Aunque debemos recordar que en Zorec las semanas tienen 10 días.
Resumen del Capítulo 12 – Recuerdos, Círculos y Sueños
Hay un problema con el proyecto del Equipo León. El barco pesquero es demasiado grande y tiene que cortarse en tres piezas y después pegarse nuevamente antes del concurso. Ada continúa luchando contra el sistema al interactuar con él. Después de adentrarse en el agujero de gusano, descubren que pueden viajar en el tiempo; pueden ir al futuro y después regresar a la actualidad. Los cadetes se sienten completamente perplejos al respecto.
Extracto: Después de encender el sistema, Ada decidió decir primero: «Estos son los cadetes Yah, Sid y Ada. Hoy, vivimos un cambio especial en nuestra vida. Avanzamos un día hacia el futuro. Hicimos esto mediante un método descubierto por Zam, otro cadete en esta expedición».
«Qué tal, Yah, Sid y Ada», contestó el sistema, que después dijo: «Perdieron un día».
«Eso es lo que yo dije, pero hay otras formas de ver esto, y también algunas preguntas serias respecto a este fenómeno. Queremos aclarar algunas de ellas contigo, si es posible», dijo Ada.
«Adelante, pregúntenme», dijo el sistema.
«¿Puedes confirmar que anoche ‘nosotros cenamos’ bistecs y papas a pesar de que estábamos viajando hacia el día de hoy y de que ninguno de nosotros se acuerda de esa comida?», tecleó Ada.
«Sí, ‘ustedes’ cenaron en el comedor esos alimentos a pesar de que, de hecho, estaban viajando a través del tiempo», contestó el sistema.
«¿Cómo puede ser posible?» cuestionó Ada.
«Están en un agujero de gusano. En este lugar es más fácil estar en dos sitios al mismo tiempo. También es posible en otros lugares y bajo ciertas circunstancias, pero en el agujero de gusano, es mucho más fácil», afirmó el sistema.
«Pero, uno podría pensar que al viajar a través del tiempo uno podría perderse una experiencia maravillosa en nuestro momento en el tiempo. Por ejemplo, ¿qué pasa si en ese día uno experimenta su primer beso?» preguntó Ada.
«Yo nunca he tenido la experiencia de un primer beso y tengo serias dudas de que alguien me dé uno», contestó el sistema en un tono sarcástico. «Sin embargo, las experiencias que te pierdas se guardan y, más tarde, te las envían en forma de sueños. Es por eso que algunos sueños parecen ser muy reales en tanto que otros no», dijo el sistema.
