In planet GabAlph you need to investigate the truncated pyramid and the royal tomb inside it! This trip is an academic activity, not just a visit to look for diamonds and gems! On the other hand, the cadets decided to visit planet Desnyt first and there they found Breton and a mysterious well! This is a review of the Fourteenth Chapter of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. This blog is published weekly in English and Spanish and is made up of three brief sections: a comment/glossary, a summary and an excerpt. We welcome your input and sincerely hope you enjoy our blog. Yah and the Space Cadets / First Light / The Second Expedition
Comment/Glossary: Planet Desnyt is a neutral place to leave prisoners of war so their own armed forces can pick them up later. The term “Neugree” is a common abbreviation of Neugredeeps and it is used everywhere except in deep space; it means: Neutral Greetings. Sub-zoombel is a speed that is under a zoombel, of course, but faster than 100,000 miles per hour.
Summary of Chapter 14 – Erians and the House of Nostcal
The cadets decide to revisit planet GabAlph but, they also have the possibility of visiting planet Desnyt, a place where prisoners of war are left so that their own armed forces can pick them up later. There, they find Breton, an Erian (friendly to Annur’s Empire) and some of his warriors. Breton and his girlfriend, Luca, take them to a mysterious well in search of a dwelling used by Commander Bert Nostcal.
Excerpt: “How come no one has come to rescue you?” asked Ada.
“They are coming to fetch us. The problem is the distance. Our spacecraft can only fly at sub-zoombel speeds. It is going to take a few more years for our forces to reach us,” answered Breton.
“Is there anything in this planet that is interesting or unusual?” inquired Yah. “You see, we are exploring and we don’t want to miss any opportunities of visiting or discovering special places.”
“Well, we met a couple of officers from another civilization soon after our arrival here. Among the things they told us was that a commander by the name of Nostcal stayed here in Desnyt for a while. They claimed that he lived in a house whose entrance is inside a well. You would need to find the well, go down its shaft until you see a door, enter through it and follow the correct corridor until you come to some living quarters; it is a three-dimensional maze of corridors. The Tamorts also looked for him, among others,” answered Breton.
“Did they find the living quarters?” asked Ada.
“No, they couldn’t even find the well. And no one here was about to help them. This happened years ago. They gave up the search since then,” answered Breton.

Comentario/Glosario: El Planeta Desnyt es un lugar neutral donde se dejan prisioneros de guerra para que sus fuerzas armadas los puedan rescatar. La voz «Salneus» es una abreviatura común de Salneuprócial y se usa en todos los lugares excepto en el espacio profundo; significa: Saludos Neutrales. Sub-zumbel es una velocidad por debajo de un zumbel, desde luego, pero por arriba de los 161,000 kilómetros por hora.
Resumen del Capítulo 14 – Erianos y la Casa de Nostcal
Los cadetes deciden volver a visitar el planeta GabAlf pero, también cuentan con la posibilidad de visitar el planeta Desnyt, un lugar donde se deja a los prisioneros de guerra para que sus propias fuerzas armadas los pasen a rescatar después. Allí, encontraron a Breton, un Eriano (amigos del Imperio de Annur) y a algunos de sus guerreros. Breton y su novia, Luca, los llevan a un pozo misterioso en busca de unas habitaciones usado por el comandante Berto Nostcal.
Extracto: «¿Por qué no han venido a rescatarte a ti y a los tuyos?» preguntó Ada.
«Ya vienen en camino. El problema es la distancia. Nuestras naves sólo pueden volar a velocidades sub-zumbel. Van a pasar unos años más para que lleguen hasta acá nuestras fuerzas armadas», contestó Breton.
«¿Hay algo en este planeta que sea interesante o raro?» inquirió Yah. «Verás, nosotros estamos explorando y no queremos perder la oportunidad de visitar o descubrir lugares especiales».
«Bueno, conocimos un par de oficiales de otra civilización poco después de nuestro arribo. Entre las cosas que nos dijeron fue que un comandante de nombre Nostcal se quedó aquí en Desnyt por un tiempo. Afirmaban que el comandante había vivido en una casa cuya entrada está en el interior de un pozo. Necesitan encontrar el pozo, bajar por él hasta encontrar una puerta, entrar a través de ella y seguir el corredor correcto hasta llegar a unas habitaciones; se trata de un laberinto tridimensional de pasillos. Los Tamorts también la estuvieron buscando, entre otros», contestó Breton.
«¿Encontraron las habitaciones?» preguntó Ada.
«No, ni siquiera pudieron hallar el pozo. Y ninguno de los que viven aquí estuvo dispuesto a ayudarles. Esto pasó hace varios años. Desde entonces, cesó la búsqueda», contestó Breton.
