This is a review of Chapter 18: P. L. S. and A. T. A. D. of “First Light / The Second Expedition” in the “Yah and the Space Cadets” series. Summary of Chapter 18: P. L. S. and A. T. A. D.
The cadets need to pass the bombs in order to destroy an excessive amount of asteroids, meteors and other debris that most probably would hit planet AquaSoil and the bombs themselves. They believe they are being tracked. They visit planet Hougrid as a resting place, however, they encounter plenty of saber-tooth tigers in that place. They obtain a new power after eating some berries. The power allows them to increase or decrease their sizes.
Excerpt: “Look, we can destroy plenty of them, but some pass right by us without being hit. What do we do to completely annihilate them?” asked Ada.
“You use the A. T. A. D. feature,” answered the system.
“We don’t know what the A. T. A. D. feature is,” confessed Ada with certain embarrassment.
“Automatic Target Acquisition and Destruction; it is in the manuals and also in this system; just in case you ever decide to read and instruct yourselves on the other features of your fighters, and not just on the obvious ones,” answered the system.
Ada mimicked the words of the system by opening and closing her mouth and pretending to say “Automatic Target Acquisition and Destruction” while wobbling her head.
“Do we press a button or do we enter the abbreviation A. T. A. D. in the command module?” asked Ada.
“Type ATAD and press enter,” answered the system.
“Is that all?” asked Ada.
“That’s all” said the system.
Ada stuck her tongue out at the system as she turned it off.

Resumen del Capítulo 18: S. U. P y A. D. A. B.
Los cadetes necesitan rebasar las bombas para poder destruir una cantidad excesiva de asteroides, meteoros y otros desechos que lo más probable golpearían al planeta AcuaTerra y a las propias bombas. Los cadetes piensan que están siendo rastreados. Visitan el planeta Hougrid como lugar de descanso, sin embargo, allí encuentran muchos tigres dientes de sable. Obtienen un nuevo poder después de comer unas moras. El poder les permite aumentar o disminuir de tamaño.
Extracto: «Mira, podemos destruir una plétora de ellos, pero algunos logran pasar sin ser golpeados. ¿Qué hacemos para aniquilarlos completamente?» preguntó Ada.
«Usas la función A. D. A. B.», contestó el sistema.
«No sabemos cuál es la función A. D. A. B.», confesó Ada, sintiéndose un poco avergonzada.
«Adquisición y Destrucción Automática de Blancos; está en los manuales y también en este sistema; digo por si algún día se deciden a leer y a instruirse a sí mismos sobre las otras funciones de sus naves espaciales de combate, y no únicamente sobre las obvias», contestó el sistema.
Ada remedó las palabras del sistema abriendo y cerrando la boca y pretendiendo decir: «Adquisición y Destrucción Automática de Blancos» mientras bamboleaba la cabeza.
«¿Oprimimos un botón o asentamos la abreviatura A. D. A. B. en el módulo de mando?» preguntó Ada.
«Teclea ADAB y presiona ingresar», contestó el sistema.
«¿Eso es todo?» preguntó Ada.
«Eso es todo» dijo el sistema.
Ada le sacó la lengua al sistema al momento de apagarlo.
