My new Historical Fiction novel is a treat. It is a deeply moving love story from the Regency Period. "Frost Flower," the first book in the Flower series is about a Regency woman that should have the perfect life.
In Frost Flower, the first woman in my Flower series, Lady Lina has every advantage, wealth, beauty and position, being the daughter of a Duke but suffers in her life from childhood abuse and torment. She appears unfeeling when the opposite is true. Her pain is deep and real. She is very shy in the extreme with a heartbreaking stutter that literally makes conversing in society extremely hard, if not impossible, therefore she is ostracized. She feels she has other flaws that make her ugly, unworthy and very reclusive. Her parents are now dead and she suffers horrible loneliness because of all this with no one that cares or tries to understand.
She lives alone, except for her pet, an Irish Wolfhound, her only companion. She suffers because of her wealth, beauty and position. Things are not always what they appear to be especially in an uncaring world.
The rest of the series will have other flowers, a Regency Scottish lady called "Highland Flower" that could be a thief and a Jacobite, and a lady pirate called our "Sea Flower," that plunders everything and everyone.
All are Regency women broken, proud, and strong with very different lives but always hopeful of finding that perfect love.
The love interests for these women will be interesting figures too with problems they must overcome. They, of course, must be handsome and able to understand these Regency women. It will be interesting to see who rescues who because maybe the Lady can rescue the man.
