"L," the inspiration/instigation for STRANGE RIVERS, ELATION and dozens of poems has now taken her own path.
I mean that in the metaphorical sense, of course, not the material. As far as I know, she's fine. But no longer responds to my messages and wants nothing more to do with me.
It's complicated. Anyone reading this probably understands: the "splendid tension" that exists between male and female is, first, an absolute. The entire animal kingdom is driver by this. Second, under certain circumstances, this produces the real miracle of living...children.
I do not have natural children (It's a long story!) I tend to see my books as my children. I doubt I could love and appreciate natural children more than I love my books. I poured my soul into everyone of them.
Now "L," the partner who helped me bring STRANGE RIVERS and ELATION into the world, is gone. I wish her well and sincerely hope she finds someone who can love her as much as I do.
