Vacation
7/6/2023 9:42:52 AM

Spending a few weeks in paradise with nothing to do but soak sun and rest does wonders for the soul.
As a swede I am blessed to have a lot of paid vacation each year and 4 of those weeks I am spending in the Canary Islands.
First week here was with all 5 kids! It was so nice to be able to treat them with this adventure. My youngest learned to swim! A few days ago my husband followed all kids back home to sweden to continue their summer break with their other parents. So I got a couple of days on my own here to do nothing but rest. A little boring to tell you the truth. This is an experience I want to share with the people I love.

Now that he is back we have both started writing again. He writes short stories with thriller/horror theme and I am writing on my book wich probably most of you think is a romance novel. But besides having love and lots of it in the mix, it is also going to be a supernatural theme with quite a bit of horror in the story as well.

The poetry that I write as per usual is about love (you may have noticed). Because honestly, love is on my mind all the time. I love my husband with a passion and as I think I have mentioned once or twice that we have an open marriage wich also means full transparency on all our thoughts around others. If it wasn't that way it wouldn't work, or at least it wouldn't be the harmony in our relationship as we do have.

I've pondered many times what would happen if one of us would fall in love with someone else and the thoughts I have about that shines through in my work. I have no trouble admitting that I am capable of loving others with the same kind of love that I have for my husband. And I do feel that love for another wich my husband knows and is ok with, as long as that person is of no threath to our marriage. It is something that will probably never get to affect our marriage because that person probably don't even feel the same way. But it is what it is and the flame burns strong anyway. Or maybe because of it?

It is wonderful to feel that my husband has that kind of trust in me and it is also wonderful to feel that kind of trust in him. It is not something I would give up easy or for that matter disappoint. I'm not one to fall in love easy. I fall in love with hearts and souls, not with appearance and I haven't seen many yet to match mine.

Back to our vacation!
We have a nice bungalow sitting on tp of a little hill in a little quiet town. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. We also overlook part of the little city we're in and the road in and out of it.

Guess where my eyes are drawn all the time?
Not to the water I can honestly say.
I keep watching the traffic up and down the hill with endless fascination. Up the hill it's always interesting to see the difference in the capacities of engines. Some climb up the hill with great difficulty loosing speed all the while. While others are making the climb with ease. Or maybe with skilful use of the gears by the sound of it. :)

Looking at the traffic downhill it's always nice to imagine where they are going. Coming in to start their vacation, going to work or home from work maybe. This afternoon I even saw a guy (or a lady) coming in full speed downhill on a segway. That looked kind of fun and dangerous.

This fascination of looking at the traffic reminds me of my fascination for watching tennis or ping pong being played. There is something deeply meditative with following the course of a ball across a tenniscourt or a table. :)

When I was a child watching John Mc Enroe play tennis there was also a bit of drama involved. :) Those of you who remember will know what I'm talking about.

To finish off my blog I also want to apologize for any typos in my texts these coming weeks. I guess there always are some, since my native language is swedish. But now more of them will sneek in because my computer has a broken screen, there is a couple of lines in the middle of the screen where nothing can be seen. Wich means that I am writing some words in the blind, so to speak.
But as long as this machine works (sort of) I will keep it. No point in buying something new while this still lives. Right? :)

Have a great summer!
