It's been 7 years to the day since me and my husband got married. I can remember it like yesterday.
I couldn't wipe that huge smile off my face for days. It was the happiest day of my life.
When we planned our marriage I voted for a wedding at the airport with anonymous witnesses and then straight to our honey moon after that. After we got back my plan was to drop the news on Facebook. Look here what we did, with adjoined picture of our rings.
But I am not the sentimental type. Maybe that's not something you would guess by reading my poetry. But when I got the stuff that my family saved from my childhood: crafts and drawings and stuff, I've always thought to myself: what's this crap? Do I need to save it?
I always have though, because if they saved it for so many years it meant something for them, and that's the reason why I keep it. For them. <3
My husband on the other hand. He wanted a big wedding with his closest friends and family there. So that's what we had. Well, my friends and family was there as well. At least those that hadn't made other plans by the time I gave in and went with a bigger wedding.
We picked our location from a scenery point of view. On a little island not far from our house, with a loud river behind us. Ha ha. No one could hear what we said, except us, and that's the important thing. :) <3
We didn't serve any alcohol at the wedding. Only coffee, soft drinks, cookies and cake. Our caterer tried to talk me into a sugary cake with sugar paste and different mousses. But my favourite has always been strawberry cream cake and that's what we had. I wasn't about to compromise on that.
I didn't let the girl who did my makeup have free hands either. I hate wearing make up and I didn't want to look to dolled up.:) Poor girl.
To our wedding we rode with style in an old veterans car, Volvo PV4, look it up, it's amazing.
Afterwards we went straight to Arlanda (in our own car, otherwise it would have taken hours) and checked in on a hotel, our flight for our honey moon left early the day after.
It was an adventurous trip to say the least. There was a coup d'état in the country we had chosen just a couple of days into our visit there. We were unharmed though, only heard scattered gun shots during the night of the coup. And we were confined to the hotel for a few days. Something to remember, to say the least. We share that story with everyone who want to hear it. :)
