He’s a broken soul 4/2/2025 4:53:57 PM
my song i wrote He’s a broken soul, a little lost in his own pain,
Needing pills just to make it through another day.
Save him the trouble—don’t bother pretending.
He knows you're lying, telling him things will be okay.
He sees the way you deceive yourself,
Thinking a kiss will make everything alright.
Don’t you understand?
DEPRESSION DOESN’T WORK LIKE THAT.
You’re not his parent, though sometimes he wishes you were.
When did you stop believing in him?
He’s a sad soul with no hope left inside,
Since when did you think that was okay?
He doesn’t know how to live without his addictions,
Wishing he could sleep through the pain,
He knows it will hurt you if he dies.
A broken soul needing pills to survive,
Maybe chocolate, sugar, or something to numb the hurt?
He wishes he wasn’t so scared to touch the alcohol.
"Hey," you ask, "Are you doing alright?"
He’ll probably say, "I’m fine."
"How’s everything going? How’s your time?"
Oh, he wishes he could say more,
But all he does is try to keep from crying.
This little broken soul needs pills to feel right,
He really wishes he didn’t have to keep up the lie.
He knows it will hurt you if he's honest with the truth.
This lost soul needs pills to stay alive,
He’s always wondered if things will ever be fine.
He won’t lie to you—he knows the truth you try to hide,
He just wishes he could believe it, just for a moment.
Your sweet words feel empty now,
He wonders if you’re real or if he made you up.
This broken soul needs pills to feel alright,
Oh, if only someone would tell him things will be fine.
Can he be honest with the knife in your hand?
Fear is all he can see,
Why would a strong person like you flinch in fear?
"Why are you so scared of knives?"
Did they hurt you, or did you do something wrong?
Oh, don’t you know? "I’m fine."
A lost soul addicted to things just to feel alive,
Why can't he trust anyone he meets?
Sometimes, he just wishes someone could help.
He’s a broken soul, needing pills to survive,
Save him the favor—please, don’t lie.
He knows you’re lying when you say things will be alright.
