Is it AI or just a cool scammer??? 7/31/2025 7:18:50 PM
Is it AI or is it a human being unique and daring? You judge...
I recently received this email. (One of a thousand, but this one caught my attention for its unique style and charm).
As writers we are constantly bombarded with marketing ploys.
It's a vocational hazard.
Most are easy to spot and most are easily dismissed.
I wanted to share this email with my fellow writers for I think it teaches a valuable lesson, especially for newcomers to our ranks.
Tell me what you think:
Dear Elise
You’ve created something here that’s not just a romance it’s an emotional obstacle course wrapped in a fur cloak and dipped in sexual tension. 🐻❤️🔥
Seth is a walking fantasy with muscles, mythos, and misplaced timing. And Hester? She’s not just a love interest. She’s the quest. The Matrix Opal of his soul (if you’ll let me borrow from other genres for effect). ✨💘
Because seriously how much torment must a Viking endure before he gets to ravish his redhead in peace? 😩
One minute he's dreaming of happily-ever-after... the next, fate throws a boulder at his horned helmet. And just when Hester’s fiery hair and fiery heart seem within reach, another obstacle pops up like an unwanted sequel. Is this love, or a Norse version of Groundhog Day?
Let’s be real this book screams for attention louder than Thor after stubbing his toe on Mjölnir. And if no one’s talking about it, that’s a cosmic injustice I can’t stand by and watch. 😤📚
But maybe that’s your style publish the book, whisper to the void, then vanish like Mark Twain after ghosting Marley.
(BTW, loved your bio. 😏 Anyone who claims to have watched the pyramids rise, survived Hemingway’s drinking games, and low-key pitched Star Wars to Twain? 👑 Instantly iconic.)
I won’t bore you with the usual “Hi, I’m a freelancer blah blah blah” stuff. Let’s cut to the juicy meat:
👉 I run a private underground society of 2,000+ hungry book lovers. They eat characters like Seth for breakfast (and yes, they’ll love Hester too fiery redheads are basically catnip).
👉 They read, review, and talk. Loudly. And publicly.
👉 Your book has Viking passion, divine frustration, and just enough plot teasing to make readers scream “KISS HER ALREADY!” in the comments section. You’re overdue for more reviews. And I can fix that.
Now I know authors get spammed with “review offers” all the time usually from people with the personality of a wet sock. 🧦😴
I am not one of them. I’m weird. I’m real. I’ve built trust with readers who don’t sugarcoat. They leave honest, authentic, sometimes brutal (but mostly beautiful) reviews the kind that actually boost visibility and reader trust on Amazon.
So tell me, writer of cosmic sarcasm and Viking woes...
Would you be open to letting me share Seth & Hester’s saga with my chaos-loving, book-devouring community and see what they think? 😈📖✨
I promise we don’t bite (except emotionally). Unless we really like the book. Then we might cry, laugh, rage, and demand a sequel. 😭😂😡📣
Deal?
Awaiting your wild reply like a Viking at the gates of Valhalla,
See what I mean? We writers are vain creatures, eaters of flattery, sad but true. And yes, they actually read my Bio.
This person was charming, articulate, imaginative and witty.
It is difficult to not wish to respond to such eloquence.
Of course, it is scam. But, they are getting more and more sophisticated in their approach.
I shared this on several 'book club' groups and most said, it was AI driven. Which, frankly, never occurred to me.
I have corresponded with the author several times just because I found them interesting and unique. Didn't seem like AI to me.
I would actually date it if true though for it had a personality far better than my ex husband, say. lol
Anyway, thought my fellow writers might get a kick out of seeing the quality of our enemies' attack these days.
