I agree. Your idea is fabulous! Recently, I read a local radio station's blog on which there was a listing for a class to teach high school kids how to manage money and do tasks, such as balancing a checkbook.
When I was in school, not that many years ago, if you didn't know how to balance a checkbook, you didn't pass 6th grade, as an 11 or 12 year old. I was taught that skill by my parents by age 7.

Where were you when I was dating?
This is the kind of thing they should be teaching in schools. Classes on life lessons, like dating, marriage, divorce, child rearing, aging parents, personal finance, etc, etc.
No driver's or marriage license issued until you show compentency in all of these subjects. What do you think?
