Neat stuff, Jill!!! The very first Thanksgiving feast was in 1621 when the colony celebrated its first successful harvest, thanks to the help from their Indian friends. We know they had corn and squash, roots and fish and small animals. Did they have a roasted turkey? The firearms of the colonists were not that accurate, and their hunting skills left much to be desired. If they did have turkey for that dinner, it was undoubtedly brought in by a very stealthy Indian hunter. Happy Thanksgiving, Sweetie :-) |
