Thank you all for your comments. I did not intend to make a political statement. I was sharing my own observations about what I perceive to be constant negative press in America. I believe in freedom of speech and in being able to air your opinion freely but since nobody really knows what the future holds, I find all these dire predictions of doom and gloom to be depressing and wish the media would stop. Somebody (preferably in leadership and Obama is in the best position of all) needs to spread a message of hope. Whatever your political view, you surely want the best for this country and that will only happen with co-operation between those on left and right and with a positive approach.

Chanti, you've written lovingly and from the heart. Kudos, I say. I agree with you completely about the negative/positive aspects of commentators; however, we can never, ever find ourselves without free speech. That's what happened in the Germany of the 1930s and early 40s. That's what's happening today in countries such as Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, and others too numerous to mention. It is partly our freedom of speech that makes us as great as we are. My 2 cents' worth. (Ed, you hush)

I'd love to hear your other impressions of the US, Chanti. Sometimes it's good to see ourselves and our land through the prism of 'fresh eyes.' Unlike some people, who crucify those who speak harshly of their countries or governments, I can assure you you'll be in safe hands here.

True...just look at sharp decline in the stock market everytime this new administration speaks out. Investor confidence is out the window with the talk of gloom and doom, expansion of government, more wasteful spending, and the so-called "Stimulus" or rather porkulus bill(s). |
