And, I'm sorry that both the politicians and the people themselves let you down! This lack of support when the war ended was DESPICABLE! In effect, to blame the TROOPS for the failure of both the Administration and Congress to ADMIT their own stupidity!
Regarding the fact of the vast increase in Nam vets seeking help 40 years later - let me state a personal true story. My brother-in-law Jim was a mere 19 or 20-year-old when he was in a foxhole in Germany, and just about 2 or 3 days before the war ended, he shot and killed a young German soldier.
40 and even 50 years later - that FACE HAUNTED him! When he drank, he got melancholy, and he CRIED. Usually, it was in the evening, and especially on special celebrations, like the Fireworks displays on July 4th -
Yeah - one-piece physically, but not mentally! THAT is what the experts and other egg-heads now call PTSD ...
IF EVER THERE IS ANOTHER WAR - GOD - MAKE THE PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS BE THE FIRST TO STEP ON THE BATTLEFIELD!

We never asked for handouts, just for them to say that their orders cause it and that they are sorry.
It is too much to ask?
