Very interesting article,Lucille.The Chinese culture fascinates me, but I must admit: I have not attempted to learn the language; I am studying Italian though and find it quite easy to learn.

I continue to enjoy following your posts. Suffice it to say that I have a minimal grasp of Spanish, in addition to my native English. And I have considered this a major accomplishment. Somehow certain people have an easier time with it, like music or art. I do have a keen ear for the differing dialects within this country as well as the English of the UK, Australia, etc. One of my quirks is trying to adapt the local vernacular in my nomadic movement around the U.S.. Sounding like a local can get you insider status which counts for a lot socially and employment wise. M.True
