"too wordy?"

I write my short stories mainly 1800/2200. A few are more, many less. It's not so much 'how long' but 'too wordy' which seems to make a piece boring. This is where edit edit edit comes in. Just my thoughts. Thanks for reading my poem.

Yes, I like them to be relatively short, too. Some stories are so good that I keep reading whatever the length, but mostly I give up if they go on and on. Happily, yours don't!

I personally like both poems and stories to be fairly short, filled with pithy words and information to grab the readers attention and keep it. I have always liked your work, so no concerns there. Like Baz said, too many words with little meaning or repitition detracts from any offering from a writer; that is when I lose interest. You are NEVER guilty of this, my friend. Hi J C, My personal view is that the amount of words is not so important, if a story is good and keeps me gripped i will read it however many words it is, but maybe if there a lot of words that add nothing to the story then that might detract from my enjoyment. Ps i love your stories and have never felt that they were too long. Keep writing. God bless. Baz
