Morgan, could not agree with you more. It is very difficult to make peace with people intent on self-destruction via suicide bombs, and apparently the mainstream Muslim community is not willing to police their own to root these fanatics out. Most immigrant cultures came to the US and comingled the best of what they brought with what they found here. The danger with the Muslim community is that they want to remain completely separate and not integrate at all. Laws, schools, dress - they want the freedom to act as they please, but not the responsibility to acknowledge other's freedom to disagree. Sharia law leaves no room for compromise. Where does that leave us?

Very well stated, Morgan. During the period of the Inquisitions (lasting some 684 years and under 70 different popes), the catholic church orchestrated a reign of terror on nearly all of Europe and parts of the rest of the world. They confiscated belongings, imprisoned, tortured, and murdered countless thousands, and perhaps millions in their quest to fill their coffers. Their atrocities surpassed those of ISIS by several orders of magnitude. The acts commmitted by the Nazis, another religious organization, also sink to the depths of hell. Still, it isn't religion, per say, rather it is giving in to the ideologues of any belief that is at the heart of the matter. Their enemy is freedom--of thought, beliefs, and the will to follow one's own moral compass that they hate. And so I am proud to say they hate my guts. |
