"The Unbearable Dilemma of Bearing Children"

Morgan, it is obvious that your three-year-old is the light of your life these days. And I would tend to agree that a three-year-old, after the "terrible twos," is probably one of the best parts of childhood with all that innocence and questioning. I hope you'll feel the same when she's asking you for money to go to graduate school because there are no jobs at her level of education.
Your blog is a good example of your fine writing with you very clearly pointing out the myth and reality of life as we perceive it with our tendency to "go forth and multiply" to the extent where we are basically seriously overpopulated. Something that can probably be easily experienced in a small town like Phnom Penh where as little as a generation ago much of the population was wiped out by idiotic debauchery.
About 23 years ago we went to a fertility clinic briefly to see if we could still have a child. We weren't persistent and quit because things were going along quite nicely, naturally. When I think about it now, the child would probably be in graduate school or have some great job in six figures. Could possibly even support me in old age. Or, could be one of those stay-at-home, perpetual students with no real objective in mind. Or, worse, looked on one of the many addictions now inflict young people making them a drag on society.
Enjoy her while it lasts. And enjoy the grandchildren to come.
Ron
