"Population growth in America"

The American population is growing, but you're right about the millennials in the United States of America. The US population is growing, but largely from the children of immigrants and immigration. You have nicely decreased the US population by one.
While a growing population is bad, as pointed out by Paul Ehrlich in The Population Bomb in 1968, it always improves the economy. Until all this growth over taxes its resources as illustrated by Easter Island, the decline of the Mayan civilization and the degradation of Bangladesh and other countries where population has exceeded resources. The unfortunate reign of Pol Pot devastated Cambodia's population, but I believe it is on the rebound and now thriving.
One of the countries with declining population is Russia. When people are depressed, like in the Great Depression in the United States, birth rates go down. Also, many Russians have left the country because of the deplorable condition of the economy.
I agree with you about pets. My sister has three great Danes who are very costly, primarily from medical bills caused by their inbreeding. I haven't been there in seven years. But she had a new house with new furniture that is no more. Last week she told me if I come this year, the house and furniture are all tore up. And, her babies are not socialized… Not politically correct. In other words, they don't like strangers and won't let them enter the house.
On the other hand, when my twin brother, Roger, lost his wife of 25 years to a fall (no children--he already had two and she had four) four years ago, his golden retriever, Rocky, provided companionship until he died last year at 14. Roger has not replaced him because he is dating and a dog is a drag.
We are carnivores. I'm sure that dog meat is good as cat meat and horse. Unfortunately, we are conditioned not to eat our buddies. What a shame and what a lost food source for the world.
