The media, and now social media, amplify the fact that most people are rather mediocre and don't have perfect faces, bodies, and skills to make them attractive to others. But they do find their fellow sufferers on the Internet and get into discussions of how sad everything is that they are alone and unloved and the result is some are even committing suicide rather than go on another day without being able post a true picture of themselves, poor fools.
But there have always been hermits and old maids who either joined cults like nunneries or wandered off into the wilderness. And you may recall that the Beatles lamented all the lonely people and their song, Eleanor Rigby on the Yellow Submarine album and their portrayal of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Drifting off into your hatred of words conjured up by the conservative right who has done more to ruin the English language and force Christianity into learning than anyone else. Probably why you like Buddhism and I do, too. Those terms you refer to are the nasty words that nostalgic, backward thinking folks are fighting against like my father did with rock 'n' roll, because we always remember the good times and have had blinders on with all the bad going on around us in our youth. Thinking if we go back to our youth with the way we did things then, life would be better. People would continue to be more oppressed than all of these progressive movements that you hate, freeing up so many that were relegated to loneliness because of what they were, not the content of their character.
