Finally I am aware of the meaning of Halloween, George. I only knew of All Saints day from russian workers that I worked with. They did not let their children participate in this AMerican holiday. To me, and to those close around me, only see Halloween as the only time to dress up something awful and get candy for the effort. I did not know why it was a holiday or all the religion background it held. Your blog went deep into it and I really appreciate how you opened my eyes to this new knowledge. I believe in God, went to a Catholic school for only two years, but other than that....was not guided to believe in anything. But I know God exists. As for religion, I consider myself a Christian. I believe in Halloween as a time of costumes and candy, whether it be scary or pretty. But I am very glad that I know what its all about. I wonder how many Americans, especially non-religion, non anti-anything's don't understand the meaning at all? |
