This review was in relation to Blues in the Night: The First Chronicles of Bernie Butz. Completed by Judge, 22nd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards. Some of the comments were as follows: "Blues in the Night: The First Chronicles of Bernie Bust is a charming historical mystery set against the backdrop of the New York jazz scene of the 1950s. Author Carol S. Fowler obviously knows her stuff and has infused the five linked short stories with the lingo and mood of the time.
Though I admit to not being a fan of the insert-occupation-here by day, detective by night approach too many mystery authors fall back on, this works. It makes sense that our hero would be in the right place at the right time to dig into some of the darker sides of the jazz scene."
