Sadly in this day of cyber freedom and mass communication if we post to an internet site it is fair game it is believed. Yes there are copyright laws but only if you have the money and patience to spend years in court litigating. I happened to do a Google search on my name one day and besides my books, poetry etc I found a link to a California town's local commercial paper and lo and behold there was one of my Christmas poems. Although I was flattered a simple request for permission would have been the courteus thing to do. So I guess if we dare to put it on the internet than we should be aware it can be stolen and used or abused at whim.

If one are to write a piece out of the blue derogatory, insulting or harmful to others, one should not hide it under "copy rights" but do it in the open and defend her/his position to scrutiny and rebuttal.
Cynthia shouldn't have been sued, just a hard kick in his royal behind would have sufficed to tell her that was a no no!

I don't believe that anyone has the right to publish or cause to be published the written words of anyone in any place without their express permission. the fact that she chose to post her words on my space is unfortunate, but I don't think it's the same as having them published in her hometown newspaper. That decision should have been solely her own.
