Oh this is so terribly sad, Barbara...if it's any comfort at all...I'd hazzard a guess there's not a woman alive who doesn't have some regrets about her relationship with her mother and things she'd give the world to change if she could...Its only now, in my fifties,(with two grown children of my own) that I realize my mother did the best she could with what she had...and she was far from perfect...but then so am I. My heart aches for what you had to endure just to simply be the woman you were meant to be! I do hope in the future society becomes more accepting and understanding..and a hell of a lot less judgemental!!!!!
