I'm a bit surprised that you did not get more of a response but then, I just got to it myself.
First of all, I respect you as a superb writer, impassioned and engaging. You can now add 'inciteful' because on this one, you could not be more wrong.
You know quite well that the Supreme Court did not give you the right to kill. Why say it, then? But you are right, we are a nation founded on violence. Would you have it any other way, meaning otherwise you would now have to pay homage to the Queen of America?
For the record, those legally gun-toting Americans, such as myself who would not leave my home without it, have the best records when it comes to dealing responsibly with the gun on their waist or in their purse. It's really quite simple: if you disarm us folks, then the only ones with the guns will be the criminal element who could not care less about your welfare, or safety or the law.
Would you prefer to be a victim? The cops will try to arrest your killer AFTER you're gone because they have no duty to protect you beforehand.
Your arguments do not hold water - road rage and all - and it would appear obvious that your opinions are based on something totally unrelated to the Supreme Court decision. What really happened?
" . . . the color of your skin"? You're seriously kidding, I hope . . . but if you are not, let me tell you this: if you are afraid, seek me out, I shall protect you with my life. I have done that before with people of all blood color as long as it was red. I am prepared to make that sacrifice (if necessary).

The city of Chicago has had a handgun in place for almost 25 years now. The majority of the 500+ murders a year are committed with said handguns, which should not have been there in the first place. Has it worked? What is so hard for people to understand that it doesn't work, and has not worked? only criminals have had access to guns, and now law abiding citizens will finally be able to also, as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment. The overexaggerated scene of a "wild-west" with people shooting it out over an agruement is a scare tactic by the gun control advocates. Out of the 50 states, 48 have some form of concealed carry law, Illinois and California being the only 2 that do not allow it in any form. Is gun violence out of control in Nebraska, or Alaska, or Arizona?
Thank god the Supremem Court took teh side of freedom, and one of our most basic rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

I live within what may well be the most violent country in the world - SOuth Africa.
Here's some facts:
South Africans, (SA has a population of 47 million people) reported 19 202 murders at the SA Police Service from April 2006 to March 2007. SA's reported murder rate is the second highest in the world after Colombia.
11.6% of adults were victims of violent crime in South Africa the past 12 months preceding the date of interview, down from 12.4% in the 2005 survey.
Guns are available here and many persons keep them for defence. However, it's not unusual for criminals to use AK47 assault rifles and explosives in the commissioning of crime.
Which brings me to my point - I don't carry a weapon. Why?
Because I believe that unless one trains constantly for urban-style combat, guns are a greater danger to their owners than they are to criminals. Many, many people in South Africa have been killed by and/or for their own weapons - which are much sought after by criminals.
I also believe that once the 'genie is out of the bottle,' it can't be pushed back in. Citizens are entitled to feel that removing their right to bear arms will leave them disarmed against armed criminals - who will never surrender their weapons.
So what's the answer? I don't think there is one, and I don't think that disarming citizens will make things any better. Guns are a scourge, but removing them from society - from the reach of criminals as well as normal citizens - is probably beyond our capabilities - ever.
