I appreciate your opinion and respect it as well as anyone else’s. I am a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and his Holy Word. In God’s word, the Bible, Jesus was set up by the “religious “ leaders of His time, by asking Him “Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar or not?” Jesus, being God, knew what they were trying to do and asked for a coin. Then He questioned them as to whose picture is on this coin. Then He put them in their place and said to give to Caesar what is his and to God what is God’s. This means we are to pay our taxes because it is being a good citizen to do so.
I attend, by worldly standards, a small country church. However, the people love the Lord, sing joyfully to the praise and worship music, and are more than willing to serve in the church, through discipleship and teaching. As for tithing, the Bible teaches that command. We don't, however, take an “offering” per se. There is a collection box in the foyer for anyone to give at their convenience so we can do so in private. The church, from the beginning, was not a business but a place to worship God. Megachurches do seem to be in the money-making business. But that doesn't make all churches bad.
Just like there are corrupt policemen, teachers, and Catholic priests there are bad churches. I call a church bad that doesn't hold to the truth of the Bible and what Jesus had in mind for it to be like.
