Whoever did what he or she did, demonstrates once more the poor human quality of those few that like predators are taking a bite here and there without ever consuming the entire fruit, to commit themselves to only one.
That, for me, is a signal of insecurity, a inferiority complex, a faulty soul that only can exist if they draw a drop of blood of every heart.
You and anybody else should, when that broken heart occurs run to a dear and true friend, the one that doesn't own a dagger and will never stab you in the back.

This blog is one of the best that has ever appeared. You certainly have my sympathy. I agree and would take the same steps, though the pain is so unpleasant and costly. I too determined years ago that my life would be peaceful and as 'unchaotic' as I could make it. I think I achieved that goal and am not sorry at all. It's true as you say. WE are in charge of very little in our lives, but we ARE in charge of our TIME and our human CONTACTS (intimacies). No one else. I think sometimes: If we cannot manage those, what the hell can we manage?

Well said. Unrequited love is devastating. Sometimes even those who return our love just don't have it in them to give as they receive.

When it feels like a one way street, it's probably not fulfilling.
