Belle, not to be redundant in stating what you and others have said is absolutely true. It's kind of like preaching to the choir.

I believe you will see a growing change in the way we Americans choose our leaders. It is too obvious that the current leaders are lackeys, which then calls for a strong and vibrant third party...I hope it comes sooner, rather than later.

Sometimes the weight of "caring" can be too much. The "Bush" years have drained the life force from many of us. It takes a lot of energy to scream against the "hurricane of evil" that has been our plight for 7 years.

Hang in there, Kiddo. You're a point of light. Never give up because the world would be darker.

Dearest friend, only the aware, the compassionate, the sensitive, the caring and the gentle – those who, therefore, FEEL passionately – find themselves, oh so very often, more than just weary, almost unbearably overwhelmed by the unawareness (also deliberate blindness), the cruelty, the insensitiveness, the egotism and the disrespect of far too many around them. Yes, only the first sense the weight of all the suffering around the universe as their own burden, because they sympathize – they have the intrinsic ability to step into the shoes of others, and even (as I once wrote, describing someone very dear to me) to understand the feelings of those who have no shoes, to which I’ll add the additional ability to feel the others pain, when they’re kicked by “pointed shoes” or trodden over by “heavy boots”, as their own. If you were not warmly, beautifully, passionately human, Sweet Lady, you would never be bothered by the inhumanity of others, least of all feel agonizingly weary with the weight of its constant evidence and of its effects. And I know how tough it may seem, at times, to just begin to try and overcome a certain feeling of despondency that strikes and makes one want to curl up into a tiny ball in a corner, when “it all” becomes “too much” – but deeply Human beings such as you, are the ones who can make a difference, by providing the balance, sometimes through more obvious contributions of words and actions, sometimes through more subtle ones (like those silent “eye to eye – spirit to spirit” communications that say “I’m here and I care”). And deeply, intrinsically Human beings, such as you, know that the keys which unlock the sometimes seemingly insurmountable “door” of weariness are, indeed, active Hope, yes, and active Love. Weary, a dreaded word that no soldier wants to hear, that no parent wants to feel, that no one searching for little bit of love wish to be...weary.
But when those lafe's foreign forces invade our own, we should be smart, detach ourselvesd from "their" reality, become deaf, mutes and blind to maintain our sanity and protect our dignity, or they will change us over to be the zombies of their dreams or at least carry on with our existence like they carry on stashing slaves in the bottom of their ships to make a little more of money.
Weary...we should be more that that, we should come together and reclaim our freedom and, as we are at it, tell the Native American that we are sorry for our forefathers, but this time with sincerity.

I can feel your weariness La Belle...it is a sad time for the World right now and with so many broken promises it is no wonder things are not worse than they are...time will bring us the change we wish for though for now we must place our thoughts within Hope and the coming of The Light...

Speaking of insurance companies, I never trusted banks or insurance from the time of my childhood. I saw too many things they did to my dad and other relatives. Plus, he taught me that practically all the truly nice buildings in the world were owned either by a bank or an insurance company. What does that tell us? It tells us where most of the money is, that's one thing. Of course, on the up side, these entities do at least provide jobs for the little people (workers like me). Considering the nastiness of politics in general, I wonder if an honest person can even get elected in this day and age. We shouldn't care so much about what we can see in these candidates Clinton, Obama, and McCain as much as what we CANNOT see! Get me? Love and hugs.

I'm with you 100%. Lies upon lies is all we hear anymore.
Insurance co's are just big rip offs.
I think everthing that use to be helpful for the common man has turned into, "let's see who we can rip off next"?

Yes, La Belle, only in the early 1980s have I seen such suffering fo r everyone for no reason except greed. It is unconciable (sp) what is going on and the wholesale rip off that is going on. Oil speculators be damned. I hope they end up in the pen for hopefully there will be an investigation into this gas mess and other tragedies that are occurring. Great write. Liz

It is as me too. I'm out with the public and, believe me, the economy is taking a nosedive. Then there's these juice kings who thrive on getting the elderly to pay to advertise with their pension to make a quick buck that never happens. I've had many seniors dying to spend their last dollar on schemes that never go anywhere in a bottle that has no potential. It sickens me.
