I don’t know if you know about Smashwords. If not, it’s a good advertising vehicle. It processes almost the same as Kindle. I use it by writing short ‘booklets,’ any page length, then including my other book titles on the last page. The site is free, and your ‘books’ can be listed at a price ‘free.’ Some of my inputs are only 15 pages - and it’s permanent. The upload is with MS Word 03. The newer versions will not work. There’s also a video at the site to explain the process.
For maximum exposure, however, the title must grab attention; such as current names and current events - including the search words. June was my best month, and my best seller at Amazon and Kindle was, ‘Obama, Hillary, Saul Alinsky and their Useful Idiots.’ That sold 40 of my 53 books sold.

Will, my blog has nothing to do with what your blog has to say about Islamic extremism. Islamic extremism reminds me of the old song, "Take me in oh tender woman" where a woman finds a snake half dead and takes it in. At the end of the song the snake bites and kills the woman and says, "Well you knew I was a snake." It is stupidity to allow people to come into this country from the places that have consistently proven they want to destroy us. We don't know who or what they are. There has to be some kind of vetting system in place that is consistently enforced. I think you will find I have no disagreement with keeping Islam and all other religious persuasions separated from government. Your statement "Our domestic enemy are those who praise Islam and invite them into our nation to fulfill that promise: to kill us. Should I disregard my oath to protect and defend our nation; or should I write blogs that are only diverse and pleasing?" Is not something I disagree with. I wrote this blog a while back along with one about "Faith" that I have not yet posted. You certainly have a right to pen whatever you choose but frankly I would like to see more diversity on this site for the sake of literature and art. I think if you read my blog again you will see it primarily about freedom and survival of our nation in advocating the constitutional principle of separation of church and state, the thoughts about diversity in writing is not the primary focus.
I like your balanced approach to the problem. And I know that you have been under some threat by some who are not as open and free as you are about writing.
What I see is fewer participants in AD for a number of reasons. Facebook primarily, followed by Twitter, Instagram and texting taking authors away from this forum into others that are more convenient for them for socializing (not writing). The failure of POD books and ebooks to sell is also a reason for authors to give up writing altogether. I've known some who have.
And of course, there is aging and illness. For the first few years, AD was free. And then came the memberships, some costly. If I didn't have a life membership, I probably wouldn't be here and would be working harder on my own website.
When I first found you, you were a romance genre writer. But now, I find you writing many other genres with the skill you possessed in your early novels. As you know, I'm a jack of all trades, but generally, not a master of any one very well. I think your primary concern are those who have a one track mind that is somehow trapped in a cult of belief that they can't get out of and it's the only thing they can write about. As you know, I've tried to reason with some of them, but they fail to recognize reason in favor of dogma. For many, I no longer give any comment.

Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. Since your blog is posted near mine, and the subject discussed in my last blog is about ‘religion’ perhaps I should reply; since your blog is attached to that topic. My topic is not about ‘religion.’ My topic is about freedom and survival of our nation.
I am a retired Air Force officer (retired in 1978 - now age 77.) When I took my ‘oath’ of office, I swore to ‘protect and defend’ the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. To make it crystal clear, my oath did not end when I retired. Formally, I can still use my retired military rank in my title address when I deem appropriate. At the moment, I see enemies now, both foreign and domestic.
The foreign enemy is the religion Islam that says, shouts, and advertises that it will destroy anything and anyone not Islam. I believe them; they are proving it every day. They are even killing one another as prophesied in Revelation 6:4. Now a question; if I cite that reference, is it religious or is it a warning? To me it’s a warning describing who they are - our enemy who says they will ‘destroy us.’ In reality, Islam is not a religion. It’s a cult that’s the tool of Satan to destroy all that good - whether religion or not religion.
Our domestic enemy are those who praise Islam and invite them into our nation to fulfill that promise: to kill us. Should I disregard my oath to protect and defend our nation; or should I write blogs that are only diverse and pleasing?
Regardless the criticism, I will continue trying to fulfill my oath as best I can. Those who ignore these warnings, whether from the Bible or any other source, do so at great peril. Do they not care about the safety and survival of our great nation?

'Love this blog. I agree with you on the religion/constitution part 100%!! Also, your blog may be a launching pad, hopefully, about diversifying the material at the Den!! Great write, my friend!!
