Karla, I have been slow reading and reviewing everyone's wonderful works lately -- but it is not a slur or intentionally omitting any of my wonderful den friends -- other matters not in my control have stolen much of my time lately -- I am slow, but never miss reading or reviewing everyone's poetry -- peace and love my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Loved your poem, Karla!
As many have said...it has become a ghost town of sorts, on AD. I have felt it myself. In my case, I have been swamped with life and just haven't had the time or energy to write or review much. I did have someone send me a note saying they had read several of my poems, but that for some reason they couldn't review more than one of them. I never got even that one review. Another AD friend has sent me several messages, but they don't show up in my message box... I don't know what is up with all of that, but I wonder if there isn't some sort of problem causing unknown issues...

My dried up mummy still write reviews to you poetry, but not obituary yet, mummies are believed to come up with full moon.

KARLA - I would add my two cents to affirm that which all the others have said - what has happened, is simply LIFE!

Everyone is busy, scratching out a LIVING! Lack of stats, or reviews, has nothing to do with you personally. Just like in Business, and Sports - everything depends on TIMING.

Sometimes, we write something, and believe that it is one of the best pieces we have ever done - and - for some strange reason, it simply gets ignored. That doesn't mean that it wasn't good - it means that the timing was such, that others were busy juggling their own little 'worlds' and missed it - THEIR LOSS!

I have had occasions - few and far between, no less, but every once in a while, someone posts a raving review of something I posted three or four YEARS AGO!

I once learned in college, many years ago, that almost every major, renowned person in history did not reach their Prime, or 'get discovered' until they were well into their Late Forties! Some even in their Fifties, or Sixties!

Think about many Great: Authors, Painters, Sculpturers, Composers, Musicians, and others, who DIED BROKE! And then, posthumously, their WORKS became of Great Value!

Just suppose that - IF Michelangelo’s “David” 1504 or “La Pieta” 1508 had not gotten good reviews - and he got upset and Quit - the Sistine Chapel’s Ceiling would never have displayed yet another MASTERPIECE!

Dear Lady - Life is Not Fair! If you have ever read the introduction on my Homepage, there is a quote from Hamlet - "This, above all else, to thine ownself be true - for, as surely as night follows day, thou canst not be false to any man!"

"Keep on Keepin' on!" "Build it, and they will come!"

Persistence - Determination - Perseverence - Diligence - Doggedness - Resolution - These synonyms are the TOOLS of SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE!

And - you got a FULL toolbox, Darlin' !

I think you are a gifted writer with a heart of gold. All of you pics and your poetry are a gift to those who read you. They are also a gift to your Creator and he has them recorded in heaven. So you see when we all get there, there will be millions and millions of people who will stop by to relish in them, not just the few here in AD. Be patient and know that life happens down here, gets in the way of our wants and so we can't review everything we read. Be hopeful and rest in Him. Love J'nia

Hi Karla, don't be discouraged. Life happens.. to people.. and has nothing to do with your talent or your person. I was away from writing and the den for so long cuz life had me so far removed from itself. Please don't give up... and I always miss you, even when I'm reading you, cuz I had been away for so long. Stay strong, my friend...

Karla, I agree with everyone here... Reasons just happen, and have nothing to do with your talent/work! I have barely been on AD these past wks...Posted a couple things, had almost NO reviews & haven't had any stats added in weeks...but I can't let that stop me.. Thing is I began a new job! Needed to earn some $$$ so I can keep publishing. Also, been sick and didn't want to mention it; almost no time anymore, plus trying to finish the manuscript editing so the book will finally be ready for print.. Just so much happening...and it is like a ghost town on AD...???? Hopefully, things will be better... hugs, lindalaw

Karla, I wish I knew what to say or do to encourage you, but the truth of the matter is, I don't. I feel the same way about my stories as you do your poetry, or the lack of reviews on them. (My poems, no problem; lots and lots! GRRRR!!) I know we should be grateful for ANY review we get, but it's hard when you feel inadequate.

All I can suggest is to keep writing (I shall do the same) and to heck with what everyone else gets, in terms of reviews, or thinks. Just write for YOU and you alone! I wish I could have a better solution to your problem, but I don't. Sorry. I love you and I want you to know you are ever in my prayers! Please don't give up hope; something good is bound to happen if you just trust and BELIEVE!!

I agree with Ed's last statement we cannot or should not rely or even need the words of others to rate our talent as writers...it comes from within and as he said is a gift that to ignore is foolish. People come and go on the den and peoples tastes often change or perhaps they find time constraits that limit them...no matter to be reviewed by one, two or twenty is a luxury we enjoy.

I'm having chronic computer issues, so I don't get much opportunity to log on and browse the talent anymore (I'm even back to writing manuscripts in college-lined notebooks!), but you are a standout deserving of rich attention for your writing prowess. Your humor, strength, and ability to manipulate emotion is great! Don't stop writing just because a few of the rest of us have! I know your stats must still be pretty well up there.... Don't rely on others to remind you that God gave you a gift. Just keep spinnin' away!
