I too have never tasted war despite 9 months in the Army National Guard, followed by 3 1/2 years in the Navy and 4 years in the Air National Guard (Air Force) all of which were during the Vietnam war era. God bless the troops; especially those who have to go to war!

You write about Veterans and Veterans issues all you want; people need to remember why they walk in freedom every day. To forget would be a crime, a sin; I can't forget because I am the daughter of/sister of/niece of/and cousin of Veterans, and to forget them would be like a slap in their faces, or dishonoring their memories/sacrifices. Besides, I live with a Veteran: YOU. Thank YOU for speaking out so passionately, and thank YOU for serving our nation; I, for one, am indeed grateful, as I am in remembering daddy and our uncles! God bless you; I love you tons!

Karla, this is one reason I quit writing as much as I once did. People began to talk bad to me about the poems I wrote because 95% was about soldiers and war. I'm still not ashamed to write for them, and never will be, I just don't choose to place them in a place people are not wanting to read them.
You however I want you to write and scream their praises from the rooftops, they deserve that and so much more.

My uncle was a survivor of that Bataan Death March. He came back weighing 96 pounds.
