I have flown on many planes, stood in many cockpits talking to the crew (that is before 911)and I have never seen unattentive pilots such as this. Plus the attendants make trips back and forth to the cockpit. Where were the attendants? None of this story sounds right. Those passengers are very blessed.

I agree, I think they were asleep...I don't understand how two trained, and experienced could miss the calls or the control towers trying to contact them, even when I'm on my laptop at home I can still answer the doorbell, watch t.v. answer the phone, cook supper and more..we all multi-task it's the day we live in....I can't believe if they were could have happened, what one missed the other might have gotten, they were experienced....
