One of my co-workers back in 2004 was trampled on at a Walmart store on Black Friday. Her foot needed surgery & metal plates of sorts to replace her shattered bones. Therapy & over a year of recovery/healing. She did not get the deal she set out for.
I myself never participated in the rushing extravaganza of Black Friday shopping until this year at about 9 a.m.
My daughter called to tell me her husband bought her a pair of laundry front loaders at Sears for a steal of a deal...and she knows I been wanting a pair for the longest time....so I was out of here lick-it-e-split! Yes Baby!! They are gorgeous slate steel blue Samsung pair!!! ohh laa laaa!!! I have a new found desire for my love of laundry :) They were sold out when I got there, but I will be able to pick them up on a backorder on this Monday's delivery. I stumbled upon some luggage there too, a 7 piece set that I had planned to spend about $200-$250 or so if on sale later on this week, but low & behold their $289 original price was marked down to $69.00!!! Yes!! Some gorgeous sweaters originally $40.00 I bought 6 for $12.00 I have not had a quality pull on sweater in a number of years as they really last & wash well. I really feel I lucked out as alot of things I purchased were on my list for gifts giving were also at sears for less than Costco. I never was into after Thanksgiving Shopping, but next year I am going to be apart of a team of my daughters friends & we are going to knock over some stores. That way everyone can cover the first arrival sections by a designated list category. I am not into crowds, but I look forward to getting even better types of bargains next year. The first arrivals get the best deals is what she told me. Since I am an early riser, & have gone shopping many times at 2 & 3a/m, I think I will participate. However I heard that someone was shot & killed at a Toys-R-Us, and someone at a Walmart in N.Carolina was trampled to death, & Walmart as a whole throughought the country had manycasualties...
It's not worth loosing ones life...

Oops...Amber... I have to backtrack on my earlier response....seems that I did go out this afternoon.... Was going to the Dollar Store to find some seasonings...duh...and guess what! Hubby called and said that Kmart had a sewing machine for $40 on sale...I laughed so loud... Then he said...if you find one you like...buy it.. Well, like my cooking...sewing is just something I like to do once in a while...so..I asked for a machine.. Kmart had one yukky $40 one... PASS...so I stopped at WalMart because they had a Brother I like that was on sale for $139...so...guess what...They had it on sale for $59...YUP... so...I bought it... and am so excited!!! There were 3 left...I got one without a hassle... and had enough to buy thread and bobbins and extra stuff... Cool... so... sorry... I think this is the first time I've gone shopping the day after Thanksgiving... so... that's it.

You and me both! I like to make my presents for people. . . not everyone agrees with that, but it's fun for me in the process and after a few years, people think their item is special, or Good Will benefits! I don't do ugly sweaters, I promise! Eileen

Black Friday, girl? you aren't political correct, since Mr Obama got elected it is called "African-American Friday" :-) LOL

You are so right...I have never fallen for the Black Friday dealie either...my kids went bonkers over it...and my sisters are the first at the malls & stores!!! Not moi'..... You do the right thing, purchasing as you go...when things are on sale, but not so picked over either... Good for you! lindalaw
