One of my friends sold $100.00 worth of ebook, and when she asked Amazon to send her the money, they said the readers have returned the ebook. I was greatly surprised. I didn't even know that ebook could be returned for refund after they are being read. I was in perfectly good mood for producing my books in hard copies and so proud of them....until wreteched Amazon offer authors; books for free, and for prices next to peanuts. I did not go for the deal, I have more respect for my work, I've worked hard on them all and am never going to give them out for free or next to nothing. People are greedy. If you offer one book for free, they would always wait 'til when you're offering the next book for free then they would buy it. I had enough of Amazon using authors' hard work to promote Kindles, they treat authors like fools!!!

Keep on ranting Eva, I can relate. All of my books are self published and I have to say I got drawn in by Amazon free ebook promotion that was supposed to help my sales, it didn't. But the worst thing I did was to have Borders as my first publisher. They printed copies of my book for they stores and then went bankrupt and all my books, which frequently turn up on eBay, were part of the settlement and I received zero royalties. |
