The hope of perfection, emotional channeling as families get together, and memories that surface all work to add to the chaos that sometimes visits. I have always loved the sentiment of the season. My memory of Christmas is one of wonderful parents who treated the holiday like they were still little kids and took in for Christmas dinner all kinds of strange people. But it always seemed like the whole community was happier and more generous to others. People sang as wandered through their chores. I don't see that anymore. Now it seems that there's a ruder presence in a public scouring as they try to fulfill that sense of perfection in their personal lives.I understand your holly jolly view.

I deeply sympathize with your cross-eyed look at the "Merriest" season of the year. But to quote another great oldie, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, "Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart and hand in hand" Hang in there, my friend. |
