Yes, that is a Mother Lode. In an effort to be unlike my mother, I became her imagined accomplishment. No children, no dirty diapers to change. No stay-at-home mom wondering if my life has significance. I worked every week, paid into Soc. Sec. and saved, got involved in my community. Best of all, took up writing to please a mother who was always sticking her nose in a book to escape her boring life as a mother. |
